INBF Natural Atlantic Coast Bodybuilding Show Results- Shannon’s results

I have known Shannon Maxwell going on 5 years. She was at Bally Total Fitness pretty much running the place when I first met her. I would look at her and think “gosh, she’d make a great natural bodybuilding competitor”. Finally one day I asked her if she had ever been in a bodybuilding show and she said yes, but she competed in the figure division. I explained to her that she really needed to GET OUT of that division and give bodybuilding a whirl because I knew she would do great! Well, it took one more figure show for her before she would get into the REAL COMPETITION where she needed to be and the girl has been there ever since!

Shannon and Linda Smith took off for High Point about the same time that Irina and I did. We all ended up hooking up Friday evening shooting the breeze about natural bodybuilding and how cool it was to have good friends with us to support us along the way. It was nice to make new friends and enjoy the old. Shannon looked really great as she was planning her strategy for the nights eating pattern and for Saturday morning! At 31 years of age, 140 pounds the heavy weight division was in for a tough time when it came to this competitor!
Saturday pre-judging was really great. When I am not judging at the table I actually sit and judge from my seat keeping my record of how things are going and who my places are for that night. What happened next messed my whole perfect score for the nights judging!
When Shannon walked on stage I thought “Dang, the girl is a beast!” She looked great and as the posing went on I continued to think the same. You judge these photos….

Shannon no doubt was looking the best muscularity wise that I had seen her! Look at this back! #1 in my book! Her body fat needed in my opinion a little tweeking but as I continued to judge her against these other ladies I still felt she was the winner with the lady on the far right coming in 2nd and the center lady in 3rd.

In between shows we all went to Wendy’s where Jimmy and Lynne Maxwell were planning to meet up with us. It’s awesome to have family and friends to support you and Jimmy Maxwell knows that as he has been in the gym all his life and understands what that is all about. Nice to have a dad who get’s it!
We all were feeling the same way about pre-judging. I was sure Shannon had placed first and if anything would get a run for her money in the overall by the winner I picked in the light weight division if that is the way the cards played out.

We all headed back over at 5:30 to check out the finals. Jimmy and Lynne sat down from me and when Jimmy saw Shannon on the stage for the first time his words were…”My gosh she looks like a linebacker!” I knew Shannon had worked hard and it was clearly evident to her dad she had been doing her homework.

As it would turn out Shannon was judged in 3rd place. Shannon did a beautiful job posing and her routine to music was awesome!
After the show Shannon went down and spoke to the judges about what she could have done to show better in their opinion. Each one of them told her to drop a few more pounds so she would show more lean mass. Shannon’s reasoning for this show was to come and learn more about what she needed to compete at the Pro level. Shannon received her pro card in her last show 2 years ago and needs to work on what it takes to compete at the pro level. I know Shannon will start working on those suggestions from the judges and we will look forward to watching her over the next months as she begins to prepare for the next pro show! Congratulations Shannon! You were #1 in my book!

Damien Fisher’s INBF Natural Atlantic Coast Bodybuilding Show
Irina’s Results!
Damien Fisher’s INBF Natural Atlantic Coast Bodybuilding Show in High Point this past weekend turned out a success! Irina, Archie and I headed out Friday afternoon to enjoy a fun and exciting weekend. This was Irina’s first figure competition. We reported for her polygraph testing Friday at 7:30pm and then headed out to eat dinner after checking in at the hotel.
After eating dinner we stopped at Krispy Kreme donuts where neither of the two had been before. Russia does not have Krispy Kreme and for sure they fell in love with the little “Hot Now” donuts and have a better understanding of what that red sign means when it is on! Irina could not have any of course and Archie and I enjoyed several with a couple of beers to boot at the Longhorn!
Saturday morning started off wonderful! We began our efforts of painting Irina up with several coats of Dream Tan and by the time I was finished the final product looked wonderful! Her hard work for the past 3 months proved she had done a great job and I think Archie was really surprised to see how wonderful his wife looked as she started striking poses to get ready for the morning pre-judging!

Her front and back posing looked very good and we continued with several practice rounds before heading over to my other friends room to surprise them with her finished product!

We headed over to my good friend Shannon Maxwell’s room where she and Jerome Brooks were doing the same thing with friend Linda Smith who was helping them with their painting process as well. The three of them truly looked like winners in my book when they were all finished. We all enjoyed some time laughing with each other and talking about the morning to come and discussed how they each felt about their individual “looks”. Good friend and former competitor, “Red” Walker, came out to support our group as well and we knew we would have a great day ahead for some stiff competition.

Natural bodybuilding is a different sport. It is a special sport. Athletes appreciate the competitiveness of doing the sport naturally and taking good care of their bodies without drug enhancements. The people I have met and helped in the 10 years of doing this sport are special and few! We are a breed of our own. For those that “GET IT” the support of friends and family who come out to support those of us that compete and put this type of show on you are appreciated more than you will know! We DON”T FOOL AROUND and take it very seriously.

As the morning went on during pre-judging here are the photos of the morning competition for Irina.

Irina looked really great in her hand made suit with stones! She had 5 competitors to compete against all who had been in figure competitions before. Her competition was stiff! For a newcomer she got up there and showed her stuff for sure. Her walks and turns looked very good and we were all proud of her display of poise and beauty. Irina learned a lot and will share more on her page about the lessons she learned for the next upcoming show to help her to a better place of taking home the brass!

In between the pre-judging and night shows we went to Wendy’s with all of the gang and met up with Clay and Tracy Barlow and Jimmy and Lynne Maxwell, Shannon’s mom and dad. A couple of other friends of Clay and Tracy’s joined us as well and we had a good time talking over the days competition!

Clay & Tracy and Lynn Maxwell
Irina’s family came to the night show to support her. They were very suprised to see their daughter, sister and mom looking so beautiful up on the stage. Luba, Irina’s mom, was totally thrilled I think with the men’s division as I would look over and her eye’s were as big as saucers!!!!!

Beautiful!
The end result produced 3 seasoned ladies to take the 1st three place trophies home. As a judge, I knew Irina needed more muscularity and less body fat. She started 3 months ago and for sure has come along way! She learned so much and will work on building muscle and trimming more body fat over the next upcoming months to produce a more athletic physic to take the brass! Congratulations Irina on a job well done!!!!!!!

Follow Kristie’s Weight Loss
When Kristie came to me several weeks ago I knew I had a winner on my hands! I truly look forward to seeing less and less of her in the months to come! She is very determined and I thank her for sharing her journey with all of us! Here is her story.
Seven years ago I hit bottom with my weight when I couldn’t ski because I was severely out of shape. That began my weight loss journey and I lost 93 pounds in one year by walking 4 miles a day and focusing on portion control.
I gained all but 10 pounds back and came to the realization that I never took on the mind set of a healthy, fit person. I’m finally back on track. I started Weight Watchers on July 11th. I have started making permanent lifestyle changes and have enlisted the help of Candi for additional support. She is holding me accountable to my workouts and motivating me to stay focused.
Although I have a long way to go, I plan to celebrate the small accomplishments along the way. With Candi’s motivation and my determination, there is no doubt I will reach my ultimate goal of 20% body fat. I look forward to reporting back the progress I make on this amazing journey!

Oct. 7, 2009 230 lbs. 35% Body Fat
Kristie has been doing an excellent job with her cardio and personal training sessions! She has lost a total of 14 pounds and 4% body fat! She works very hard and here are her first photos since Sept. 1. photos above. She is one of the most dedicated clients that I have! You can see that she is dropping around the waist area and clearly in her back and and upper body! Keep it up Kristie! Your success is a daily dedication! You are a winner!

Oct. 7th 230 lbs. 35% body fat
Nov. 2, 2009 221 lbs. 30.6% Body Fat
Kristie no doubt is kicking butt in the gym with me and at home! She has lost 9 lbs. since Oct. 7 for a total of 23 lbs. in 2 months or 9 weeks. She is now at 30.6% body fat. She has lost almost 9% body fat total. Kristie never misses her appointments, is always on time and works out for a solid hour with minimal rest. Our strength training and high intensity interval work outs really do the trick. Kristie has been following my nutritional advice now as well. Let’s check in with Krisitie and see what she has to say!
Kristie’s log: When I first started training with Candi I thought I would only train 2 days a week. Candi changed my WHOLE mindset with this as I am training on my own as well at home 5 days a week. This IS my homework assignment and I know I can not leave my community gym until I burn my 700 calories! The intensity I have incorporated is so different now than when I worked out in the past. I copy what I do in the gym as far as intenstiy that Candi and I do and do it at home. IT WORKS and I WORK IT!
